2015 Show

The renewal of the Canadian Furniture Show also involved the programming of new activities that supplemented the traditional activities, usually held during the event.

To improve the visitor experience, different networking events such as industry party, golf, gala, and Town Hall meeting completed the business opportunities!

Trends and Great Finds

2015 Trends

The new products exhibitors rolled out at the 2015 Show reflected not only the very latest trends, but also the diversity and eclectic spirit of today’s consumers – their desire for home décor that says “This is who I am” and “This is what I call comfort.”

Materials and Textures - Rough and Ready

Reclaimed raw materials rule the roost this year. Recycled woods and mixed essences, sometimes highlighted by black elements. Exotic woods – reclaimed and certified – are firm favourites, for the beauty of the grain and varied textures. Making wood look “aged” is a trend in all sorts of pieces, in all sorts of styles. What about other materials? Well, there’s concrete, stone, raw metal, wool, fur, bones, intertwined rope, and braided baskets…

Vintage, Now and Always

The vintage look isn’t going away – in fact, it’s growing stronger. Furniture and accessories that hark back to the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s are all the rage. Resist the temptation to decorate a whole room with vintage pieces, though – all you need is a couple of carefully curated items to set off the rest of the décor. Retro furniture and accessories blend beautifully with modern or contemporary room settings.

Huppé - Moment Collection

Strike While the Metal's Hot

Metal’s back, and we’re seeing it used all over the place – in accent furniture, lamps, and accessories. How about combining different metal finishes in the same room? For starters, take a warm finish like pink or gold copper, brushed pewter or bronze, then add a cooler finish like nickel, steel, or chrome – a great way to warm up a space. In a room that’s furnished with smooth wood pieces, metal adds contrast with intriguing raised surfaces.

Zuo - Elio Chair

Bright Ideas: Colour Takes Centre Stage

There’s nothing quite like vivid, saturated colours to give a room a lift. The darling of the moment is blue – cobalt, Greek blue, teal, sapphire. Not to mention ruby red, magenta, gold, orange… even khaki, making a surprising comeback. The patchworks that were so popular in the ‘70s are back as well, and colour - ful, exotic patterns are très chic. Of course, you can never go wrong pairing brights with neutrals to create that special ambiance in your favourite room.

Brentwood - Monty Collection

Not-So-Basic Black Is Back

Black, which never really goes away, is making a big splash on the home front this season. All sorts of collections – sofas, chairs, dining rooms – feature deep, dark, dramatic shades. Lamps and accessories also come in subtle shades of black, adding a graphic touch to rooms decorated in lighter colours. Black is perfect for mixing and matching and an ideal way to showcase classic or modern décor.
